End of the week! UNC vs. Oregon

It’s a nice day out for a run, at least until later this afternoon. If you can get out before the rain comes down, make sure to jog for 20 minutes, using Playlist 8 if you have access to music. Then home for 100 backhands, 100 forehands, 50 scoobers, and 50 backhands. Then it’s inside for video time!

In this classic college match-up, Jonathan Nethercutt’s UNC Darkside squad faces off against Dylan Freechild and Oregon Ego for the 201 Men’s College Championships. You should know both of those names. Spend at least 30 minutes watching this one!

Ultimate player you should know- Jimmy Mickle

Jimmy Mickle is one of my favorite ultimate players- he’s fast, tall, and has great throws and catches. He dominates in the air and has an astute sense of the field and where things need to go and when. Here are a bunch of videos to get started- Google his name to learn more and watch more videos.

Here is Jimmy’s Callahan nomination video for 2013, when he was a player with Colorado University’s Mamabird. The Callahan Award is given each year to the top player in women’s and men’s ultimate.

A highlight video from his time as a pro player in the American Ultimate Disc League:

With Falmouth Rogue now graduating high school seniors up into the world of college ultimate, this is a perfect time to share highlights from the recent 2019 College Championships. The state of the college game is strong and getting stronger. I can’t wait to see our players start to show up in highlight reels like this! It won’t be long.

Callahan Award nomination videos!

The Callahan Award is the highest honor awarded to college ultimate players and is given to one male and one female player each year who best epitomizes the qualities of high skill, talent, good spirit, sportsmanship, and leadership. One of the fun things about the Callahan Award for ultimate fans is the pile of promotional videos put together by friends and teammates of potential Callahan Award winners. The videos pull together each players highlights and are set to music and edited to be exciting to watch.

Here are the Callahan videos from a few of the past year’s winners as well as some of this years videos from other college stars.

Enjoy!
