Just a quick reminder- our intramural team sign-ups will be open in April, with intramural play to begin in May, as soon as the fields are dry enough to play on. Intramural sessions will be on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00pm and will be open to any student in grades 2-8.
HUGE thanks to FES gym teacher Jeff Sprague for allowing me to come in and teach Falmouth’s third graders how to play ultimate! We have two sessions with the third graders this year- one class for learning to throw and catch and another to learn how to play ultimate. It’s a good introduction to the sport a couple of years before the kids will spend six weeks playing ultimate in gym class as fifth graders.
Falmouth third graders are welcome to signup for our Intramural program and can play as travel players on Rogue next year as fourth graders. Signups for the Intramural team will open up in April.
Intramural starts tomorrow!
This week we head outside to play on the grass, as our travel team, Falmouth Rogue, also starts up its regular season.
Intramural will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm.
Travel team will play or practice Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, in addition to Intramural days. Travel team practices are longer and run 6-8pm.
Both teams practice and play on the grass fields behind the Falmouth High School. Registration for Rogue, the travel team, is closed, but kids can still sign up for Intramural.

Note- Intramural ultimate will run on Mondays and Wednesdays this year from 6-7:30pm.
Head for the hills! Or at least stay inside when the lightning gets here in a couple of hours. The timing of the incoming weather is looking a bit dodgy, so no intramural today. We don’t mess around when lightning is on the menu.
The 2018 Intramural season kicks off next week! Our intramural team, lead by Coach Laura, meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is open to girls and boys living in Falmouth in grades 2-8. Players will be divided up by grade, with the 2nd-4th graders using a cool new special smaller disc in their games, the 5th and 6th graders matching up, and the 7th and 8th graders playing together. Players in the 2nd-4th grades will play from 6-7:30pm, while players in the 5th-8th grades will play from 6-8pm.
The cost to register for the intramural team is $65, though as always, no player will ever be turned away for financial reasons. If the cost of playing is at all an issue, we just ask that families pay whatever is affordable. The cost of participating should NEVER factor into a player’s decision to play ultimate.
The 145-gram Jstar disc by Discraft is a wonderfully scaled-down version of the 175-gram Ultrastar discs used in regulation play. We are printing up 100 Falmouth Rogue Jstar discs this year to use in our new 2nd/4th grade intramural program and for use when Coach Shea teaches the Falmouth 4th graders how to play ultimate in their gym classes. Here’s a mock up of how they will look. We’ll have them ready to throw by mid-March!
Credit to Falmouth artist Joey Han for the design of our logo, which converted to one-color beautifully.
