Get excited! The Intramural Team’s first practice and game is this Saturday, May 30th! We’ll be gathering at our normal spot on the grass fields behind the Falmouth High School, next to the turf and track, and playing from 4-6pm.
I have made some changes to the start time for Monday Intramural. Boys lacrosse runs on Mondays until 6:30, so we’ll be starting at 6pm starting on Monday, May 9th, to give the lax boys a chance to miss the least amount of game time as possible. Each Intramural session will start with a half hour of warm-ups, so the boys lacrosse players shouldn’t miss too much game time with our 6pm start times. The sun sets a little too early for us to start at 6pm on our first Monday meeting, on May 2nd, so we’re sticking to our 5:30pm start time for just that one day.
Apologies for the confusion here. As always, email me at email@example.com if I can clarify anything.
We had a great first practice last night!
Here’s the game we watched during the last part of practice.
Next practice on Sunday!
The fields are too wet to play on, so even though it looks like the rain is going to start to lessen today, practice is off.
Due to a last minute business trip that I am on, we won’t be having practice tomorrow, Thursday the 28th. Our next event is the under-the-lights game in Falmouth on Saturday. We will be starting the game at 7:30pm but please plan on having your players to the field by 7pm for warmups.
We will start outside practices on Tuesday, April 28th and will be on Field C all season. Please see the map above for its exact location.
Some perspective: We didn’t even hold our first practice last year until April 28th, eight days from now. By the time April 28th of this year clicks over, we’ll be having our eighth practice of the season! All of that extra gym time, throws, and catches are really going to show once we get a chance to run around on the grass. The gym felt a little cramped at times, but it was awesome having the inside air to build confidence with our throws.
A reminder—the next practice is this Thursday and will be held in the Falmouth High School gym. This is OUR LAST INDOOR PRACTICE!!! While we might end up inside sometime due to rain, all of our regularly scheduled practices are outside on the grass. Full field games. Long hucks. Wind! It’s going to be great.
Parents and players—it can be cold and rainy this time of year. Please make sure to dress properly once we get outside. Cold hands cannot catch the disc.
Jerseys are ordered! We’ll be rocking FIVE Ultimate shirts. That’s the brand, not the number of shirts we’ll be wearing. That would be ridiculous.
I’ll leave you with this high level game between San Francisco’s Revolver and Japan’s top club team the Buzz Bullets. Players—check out Beau Kittredge on Revolver.
First, the bad news—there will be no practice this Thursday, April 2nd. I made a mistake and we don’t have a gym spot reserved. I apologize for the mixup.
The good news is that we added two practice dates for the week of Spring Break AND we have our field assignment for May. First—the practices over Spring Break are optional as we understand that some families have travel plans. These are for any player who is in town over break and wants to come and play some frisbee.
The two additional days (now added to the FMS Ultimate calendar):
• Sunday April 19, 2015 4-6pm – FES Gym
• Thursday, April 23 5-7pm- FHS Gym
Please note that the practice on the 23rd will be in the Falmouth High School Gym.
The second good bit of news is that we have our field assignments for May! We’ll be practicing on Field C behind the High School. We’re penciled in for a 6:30pm start on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though there is a good chance we’ll be able to push that to 6pm. Either way, practices will be two hours long. We should be able to get out onto the grass by the first week in May, depending on the speed of the melt.
Again, I am sorry for the mixup regarding this week’s practice.
Amazing work out there team! We had a great group of players show up for the first practice tonight and I can already tell that we’re going to have a really fun season. We started learning everyone’s name, talked about the basic rules of the game, the ins and outs of catching and throwing, the magic of “the Force” (ask your players about it), ran a few drills, and even played some games of Completion (score a point for every completed toss to a teammate).
Our next practice is on Thursday at 6pm at the FES Gym (same place as tonight). Remember that you can find our up-to-the-minute calendar here where all practices and games details are kept.
If you haven’t done so already and your player is ready to commit to the season, please make sure to register here.
