In ultimate, if a player performs a Greatest, he or she jumps into the air from in-bounds and catches and throws the disc back into the field of play in one motion before landing out of bounds. If that disc is caught by the player’s teammate, they keep possession of it. It’s awesome to see and even cooler when it leads to a score. Throw in a flying layout and you have this gem of a highlight:
Ultimate summer camp through Falmouth Rec. Dept. June 22-26
There is a great ultimate summer camp being run this summer through the Falmouth Rec. Department. Click over to read more about it and to sign up.
The two coaches running the camp, Chloe Rowse and Noah Backer, are both locals (Chloe is an alumni of the Falmouth Ultimate program and Noah played in Cape Elizabeth) and have achieved Big Things at the collegiate and nationals level of play. There is a limited number of spots available, so don’t lag in signing up.
Chloe’s dad Rob is one of the head coaches with the high school program and created this highlights video of Chloe and her teammates at Colorado College. Chloe is the tall blonde rocking the long ponytail.
Highlights video—check out how the top players make it look good
What this video lacks in image-resolution, it makes up for in sheer-awesomeness!
Thanks to coach Rob Rowse of Falmouth Ultimate for sharing this one with us!
All ready to teach ultimate at the middle school

I will be helping middle school gym teacher Maureen Sylvia teach a unit on ultimate frisbee to the 6th graders this week and the one after vacation. These are all the discs I’m bringing. And yes, they all have FMSultimate.com written on the bottom. 😀
Fury v Scandal (2014 Women’s National Club Championships)
Another exciting game to watch for homework this week.
Jersey sizing, name, and number form
All players should visit this page to register their jersey size, name, and number choices.
Also, don’t forget your weekly homework: go for a 20-minute jog and watch 20 minutes of a professional level ultimate frisbee game. Any of the games posted here on the site are fine.
Roll Falmouth!
Boston Wildcard vs Seattle Mixed – 2014 National Championships – Semifinal
Another great game to watch.
Team Jersey Registration Form
We’re going to get names and numbers printed on the backs of our team jerseys this year so all registered players need to visit the FMS Ultimate jersey form and enter in last name information and number choices. It takes just a quick minute.
Canada vs Australia – 2012 Ultimate Championships – Mixed Final
The players have been given some ultimate homework this week—they all need to go for a 20 minute jog and they need to spend at least 20 minutes watching this game of professional-level ultimate frisbee (you’re invited to join them in watching).
The first pull is around the five minutes mark, which you can skip to if you want to jump over the standard pre-game production.
Changes in practice schedule: NO Practice this Thursday, optional practice over Spring Break, and May dates
First, the bad news—there will be no practice this Thursday, April 2nd. I made a mistake and we don’t have a gym spot reserved. I apologize for the mixup.
The good news is that we added two practice dates for the week of Spring Break AND we have our field assignment for May. First—the practices over Spring Break are optional as we understand that some families have travel plans. These are for any player who is in town over break and wants to come and play some frisbee.
The two additional days (now added to the FMS Ultimate calendar):
• Sunday April 19, 2015 4-6pm – FES Gym
• Thursday, April 23 5-7pm- FHS Gym
Please note that the practice on the 23rd will be in the Falmouth High School Gym.
The second good bit of news is that we have our field assignments for May! We’ll be practicing on Field C behind the High School. We’re penciled in for a 6:30pm start on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though there is a good chance we’ll be able to push that to 6pm. Either way, practices will be two hours long. We should be able to get out onto the grass by the first week in May, depending on the speed of the melt.
Again, I am sorry for the mixup regarding this week’s practice.
